Also known as Riverina Highlands Rail Trail

21km, One Way, Rail Trail, Sealed, Easy, Flat

This rail trail starts in Tumbarumba and travels to Rosewood through the beautiful high country.  Start in Tumbarumba at the Wolter Cottages with two heritage listed buildings from the 1870s and a historical display. The Rail Trail itself has many historical displays and features four restored timber trestle construction bridges from the original Rail line. Mannus Creek Bridge is the grand old lady of the restored bridges - the longest and tallest timber bridge of the four.  With a length of 48.2m, 7 spans, nearly 7m tall and slightly curved, a seven span tall bridge featuring an inbuilt curve, it is a master piece of bridge building. Along the way enjoy the views across grape vines and open fields where cattle grazed in the lush grasses. Stop at the rail siding near the historical Worsley Station where the mechanical shearing machine was invented. The trail is overall downhill from Tumbarumba to Rosewood.

Many people ride out and back. If you do not mind cycling on the Wagga Road for around 3km then you may find the Pioneer Women's Hut museum an interesting detour at Glenroy near Mannus Creek. Remember to be careful on and crossing the road, wear bright clothing and use lights for safety. There is a narrow verge on the road, but the bridge over Mannus Creek should be crossed when there is no traffic.

Thank you John Fuller for providing photos along the trail.
