Official app of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a 700-mile water trail that connects Old Forge, New York to Fort Kent, Maine. This 163-mile segment links the wilderness paddling routes of the West Branch of the Penobscot, the Allagash Lakes, and the Allagash River. The West Branch is a traditional canoe route, with mellow currents, ample campsites, wild surroundings, and opportunities to spot moose. While paddling through the Allagash Lakes you will experience the interconnected waters that inspired Thoreau, and witness rusting relics from the days of log drives.
