190 km One-way, Flat then Hilly, Medium to Hard, Paths plus Sealed/Unsealed Quiet Roads

The route can be cycled in stages and trains can be used for some sections if time is short, or take the train to Lithgow or Mt Victoria and ride back down the mountain!

Bicycles can be taken on metropolitan and inter-city trains in and around Sydney at no extra charge. Although it is recommended to travel outside of peak periods.

Note that the airport rail stations are privately owned and cost an extra (about $15 each) to use. If you want to avoid this extra access fee, and you need to catch a train, then you can walk or ride to Wolli Creek Station, about 2 km away, otherwise just ride our routes.

Start: Opera House, Sydney International Terminal, Strathfield, Parramatta, Emu Plains, Katoomba, Mount Victoria, Lithgow.   Access: Train stations all along the route, Sydney International (Kingsford-Smith) Airport.

A big thank you to Brian (Barney) Stevens who gave permission to use the routes in his guide “Cycle Across The Blue Mountains without using the highway.” Thank you John Fuller for mapping the ride and providing waypoint photos and descriptions.
