This spectacular coastal walk takes in some of the best remote beaches and headlands in New South Wales.
Along your walk stop in or stay at the little beachside hamlets. Many hardly changed since the 1950s.
The walk takes in many headlands with amazing 360 degree views of the long beaches and rocky cliffs.
Most times as you walk along the long white sandy beaches there will be just you and the wild surf beside you.
The coastal area remains remote because it has many wetlands and many creeks and rivers cross the trail as they enter the sea.
Many of the rivers can be crossed at low tide however some require boats.
The Solitary Island Coastal Walk (60 km) starts in Sawtell and ends in Red Rock.
The Yuraygir Coastal Walk (67 km) starts at Red Rock and ends at Angourie Point.
The walks are separated at Red Rock by the Corindi River. The Corindi River can be deep, fast flowing and wide.
You will need to arrange watercraft in advance because there is no commercial boat service available.
Northbound: There is a boat ramp upstream from the Red Rock caravan park where local fisherman and boaties launch their boats.
Southbound: The north side of the river is totally undeveloped and has no houses or people living on this side. Pre planning the crossing is therefore highly recommended.
Ahead of time, boat transfers can be arranged for the Wooli Wooli River and Sandon River. Contact details are provided in this FarOut app guide.
The hike can be done as a series of day walks with car shuffles. Many of the access roads are unsealed so check hire cars are permitted to travel on these roads.
