Transcaucasian Trail

The Transcaucasian Trail (TCT) is the South Caucasus' first long-distance hiking trail, which will span approximately 3,000km across the Greater and Lesser Caucasus Mountains when complete. The Armenia stage of the TCT - the first completed national section - traverses 861 kilometers (535 miles) across the country's wildly diverse terrain. Between Armenia’s southern border at Arevik National Park and its northern border at Lake Arpi National Park, hikers traverse through red desert canyons, lush forested hills, treeless steppes, dramatic cliffs, high-altitude volcanic plateaus, and more. The trail is also a journey through Armenia's history and culture, passing prehistoric archaeological sites, ancient monasteries tucked deep into forests and canyons, Silk Road caravanserais, and Soviet sanatoriums and monuments. TCT Armenia offers day hikes, section hikes, and a challenging and rewarding thru-hike that takes most people between 25-40 days to complete.
